About Puebla?

Puebla is a city located two and a half hours from Mexico City and in the Southern part of central Mexico. The urban space was founded in 1531 in Cuetlaxcoapan, which means in Nahuatl language, “Where the Serpent sheds its skin”. The city is the fourth-largest metropolitan area in Mexico. Additionally, Puebla’s original name was Puebla de Los Angeles and today’s name is Angelopolis (City of Angels). 

Ancestral Path

Puebla was the military hub of Mexico and where the battle of Cinco de Mayo took place, also known as, Battle of Puebla. The Mexican army gained victory in this battle over the French invaders. Zocalo

The cultural interior of Puebla. The Zocalo is the key path to experience the beauty of Puebla and its main attractions. As well as, a good place to rest after a long day of exploring. 

Designed by Japanese architecture named, Toyo Ito, this museum explained the Baroque style designs of Puebla and the world. You need to spend a day to appreciate the exterior and interior; the architectural designs are impressive.

Biblioteca Palafoxiana

The first library in the Americas. A UNESCO Heritage site located in the historic center of Puebla. This space contains over 45,000 books including the donated collections of 5,000 Palafox y Mendoza. 

El Pasaje Histórico del 5 de Mayo

This hidden gem in Puebla is also known as the Secret Tunnel of Puebla. It is said, this pathway was used during the Cinco de Mayo battle by the Mexican troops. Safety Information

Despite being the fourth largest city in Mexico, Puebla is one of the safest cities. I also recommend you stay up to date with travel advisories and pack common sense when traveling anywhere. Some people believe Mexico is so dangerous you can’t enter the country but Mexico is a big country and not all of Mexico is a violent zone. Below are helpful resources to have a safe trip to Puebla. I have traveled to Mexico eight time with no problem and by following these precautions:

TIPS

Do not drive late at night due to poor lighting and not familiar with the roads. 

Do not use Credit cards or bank cards at gas stations

If you are not an experienced driver, do not drive in Mexico.

Be friendly with the locals because they are willing to help you in case of an emergency. 

Save your destinations on your Google maps app for guidance and record keeping.
