 WORD ALERT

Vinicola: a place where wine is made.

LA HISTORIA OF EL VALLE

Did you know 90% of the 45 million litters are produced annually in a Valle? Yes, according to the Museo de la Vid and el vino located in Ensenada, the above figures reflect the large production of Mexican wines. Additionally, 12.7 million bottles are produced internally and 780 thousand are imported to 30 countries; that’s lots of wine lovers. According to the museum’s historical facts, the wine culture of California was started by the Jesuits missionaries during the 1700s. Lastly, Russian immigrants settled in Ensenada and intermarried with the indigenous people birthing a Mexican-Russian nation. While at the museum, I was impacted by these findings because of the Russian-Mexican legacy found in Mexico.

MODERN-DAY EL VALLE

Decades after the interracial settling, El Valle has become the abode for the curious wine sippers, hand-painted sombrero chicas, and the foodie expedition from farm to chile table experience. Along with Vendimia Wine Harvest Festival in Guadalupe de Valle, occurring at the beginning of August annually but due to the pandemic this year the festival was postponed.

COVID19 TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

Due to our current global condition, our travel experiences have been altered. Covid19 has impacted our past, future, and current itineraries to the point of mandatory pandemic-approved travel plans. Currently traveling to El Valle consists of wearing Cubrebocas, washing stations, and must make reservations to respect the local capacity level at most of the establishments. The most important changes are wearing masks and making sure you have your reservation because if not you won’t be allowed in. These rules are current but due to the pandemic, our world is bombarded with rapid changes so it’s best to check daily with travel updates.
