1. Postcard Ready Architecture

Quito is a preserved city; It still maintains its colonial-rustic style with amazing doors and it’s unique architecture. The streets in Quito are the perfect setting for a postcard photoshoot. These streets give you a beautiful photo slide of Basilica Voto Nacional, vibrant colonial houses, and the view of a beautiful angel called, “Virgin of Panecillo”, set on top of the Panecillo. These streets are the following: Venezuela, Cuenca, Galapagos, and Jose Joaquin Olmedo. These streets views are amazing and breathtaking especially if you wake up in the morning to catch the sunrise mist hugging the high peak mountains with the aftermath of a still life canvas

2. The Best Miradores in Quito

The hilltop volcanic city could not live without having amazing restaurants with perfect views. Quito has many restaurants in which you can sit down and enjoy the scenery without getting bored. Here are a few to name the least: Cafe Mosaico and Vista Hermosa.  These eateries give you fantastic 360 views of the old town from their rooftop terrace. Let’s not forget about, Pim’s, this place has one of the best views of downtown Quito.

3. Helado de Paila

The first day I arrived in Quito, I tried their regular ice-cream and I did not like it because I’m lactose intolerant. One of the staff at Patio Andaluz recommended, Helado de Paila, is a creamy ice cream made of natural fruits and stir inside a brass pot surrounded by ice to keep the pot cooled. This type of ice cream does not contain milk. After stirring the fruity mixture you will end up with a soft, tasty, creamy icy paste. It’s super delicious that I ate it three times while in Quito. I found these places to have the best “Helado de Paila”.

4. Best Parks in Quito

Independence Square

There are many beautiful and relaxing parks in Quito where you can watch people all day, and stay current with the city’s politics. Why? Because the locals use the park as their political center stage to express their political views.  Here are two popular parks in Quito Bosque del Panecillo and Independence Square .

5. Quito Best Restaurants

Where to “Comer”?

Quito is not bombarded with restaurants. Quito provides an intimate culinary experience because the residents prefer to eat at home and dine out for special occasions. Ecuadorians hold dear  to their heart their culinary traditions. They are family oriented and pass on their traditions to the next generation.  The menu across different restaurants are the same or very similar. I even ate Ceviche with popcorn while in Quito. It was not my favorite but very popular among the locals. Here is a list of my favorite restaurants in Quito.

1.Patio Andaluz

2. Tianguez

3. Mercado Central

4. Palacio Arzobispal
